Total System Balance

Total System Balance

Total System Balance is the process of testing, adjusting, and balancing an HVAC system to verify it is performing at the design intent and operating at an optimum level for maximum performance and efficiency. At MESA3, we are confident we can provide you with your Total System Balance (TSB) requirements and are willing to assist you in completing all your HVAC needs.

Total System Balance

Air Balancing

Air Balance

Air balancing is the process of regulating HVAC air flows based on: room use, size, occupancy, equipment, heat load, indoor air quality requirements as well as pressure-controlled environments. The process of air balancing minimizes operating costs by keeping your system running efficiently. It creates a comfortable environment for employees and expands the life of your equipment. MESA3 has comprehensive knowledge on HVAC systems as well as building automation. We provide accurate, repeatable test measurements with calibrated, industry leading HVAC testing equipment.

Water Balance

The majority of HVAC systems use water as a source for heat transfer. Hydronic balancing ensures that proper water flow reaches the desired equipment in a system that provides the ability to maintain temperature and humidity requirements. Balancing hydronic systems is a cost-effective method of reducing energy consumption and enhancing system performance.

Exhaust Testing and Balance

Process Exhaust Testing and Balance

Balancing of process exhaust systems is critical for production in semiconductor and micro-electronic facilities. The exhaust flows are sensitive and can’t vary without affecting production. MESA3 can help create full documentation systems from type of exhaust service, fan, ducts, tools and damper ID’s. We test and balance existing and new tool connections while maintaining existing exhaust conditions.

Duct Leak Testing

Duct Leak Testing (Pressure Testing) is performed to determine if an HVAC system was constructed, installed, and sealed properly to minimize leakage. Duct leakage results in energy loss and reduces the systems efficiency. MESA3 will identify issues in your HVAC duct system, provide you with certified reports and assist in corrective recommendations if required.

Existing System Surveys

Existing System Surveys

Before modifying an existing HVAC system, it is essential to determine baseline operating data on your system's components. This includes air and water systems, and MESA3's comprehensive survey will provide information on the system's performance, capacity, current issues, and balance conditions.

Performing a system survey helps decrease future system failures and is a vital step in preparation for any alteration of your HVAC system.

Sound and Vibration Testing

Sound and vibration testing measures and verifies levels so they do not exceed recommended thresholds based on the manufacturer’s specifications. While it’s normal for any rotating equipment such as motors, pumps, or chillers to have noise and vibration present, it becomes an issue when there is an excessive amount. Unwanted sound and vibration may lead to premature equipment failure, structural damage, faulty readings in testing facilities, or a nuisance for building occupants.

MESA3 can help determine the cause of unwanted sound and vibrations and evaluate these issues, reducing energy consumption, lowering operating costs, and providing businesses with the assurance that a productive work environment is being maintained for personnel.

Fume Hood Certification

Fume Hood Certification

Fume hoods are essential in protecting laboratory personnel and the work environment. They prevent hazardous vapors, gases, and fumes from entering the workspace. MESA3 will test hood performance for face velocities and room cross drafts, smoke testing, and alarm functions to ensure the hoods comply with Federal and State regulations.

Certifications are required upon installation and on an annual basis.

Room Pressuraization

Room Pressurization requirements generally fall into two categories: cleanliness and containment, depending on airflows and room envelope integrity. The pressures could be individual rooms or multiple rooms cascading to different areas. MESA3 will adjust airflows to ensure the desired room pressures are achieved. We will also investigate room envelope conditions and recommend corrective actions if needed.

JCAHO and OSHPD Compliance Testing Services

JCAHO and HCAI (OSHPD) Compliance Testing Services

Critical room testing in hospitals is an essential service for MESA3, and we provide the necessary expertise to help hospitals develop and maintain their Critical Room Testing program. We also have the expertise to correct non-compliant rooms. Our reports are extensive and show code requirements, and pass/fail analysis.
